Steam Header

A steam header is the main steam supply pipeline. The function of the steam header is to deliver steam in as high level of quality (dryness) as possible to the general areas where steam is needed. A steam header is a distribution pipe from a steam source from which it branches laterals to individual users. You can also have a return header that collects the spent low-pressure steam and takes it to a steam condenser or other location. There are other headers called condensate headers that collect the condensed steam of users and returns it to the boiler feedwater system.

   Even though the steam header is made from pipework and connects onto pipework, it is categorized as a pressure vessel so it must have a full design and must be UKCE or CE certified via a 3^rd party notified body MPE can offer either UKCE or CE.

• Design- MPE can design you a header and produce drawings and files for you to either use on site or input into your BIM cad modelling software.
• Quality- MPE’s quality is second to none. We pride ourselves on fabricating and delivering quality, ‘Made in Sheffield’ vessels. MPE can offer full material traceability on all materials used, all welders are fully coded, and all weld procedures and welders have been witnessed by a 3^rd party notified body TUV. MPE can offer weld maps, NDT and drawings of the header and can offer UKCE or CE certification if needed. All headers are hydrotested to 1.5 working pressure before leaving our workshop.
• Fast Turnaround- As we fabricate the headers in-house, we can complete the project within a short lead time.
• Bespoke Specification- Our steam headers can be built in carbon or stainless steel and are manufactured to withstand a max of 500c and a pressure of bar as standard, although we can make higher specification units if required. We can make as many connections in the header and any orientation as required for your project.
